Why Choose Tables and Chairs Separately

A boxed combination can force a compromise: six seats when you wanted eight, or a chair design that doesn’t take your fancy. Choosing each piece separately removes that compromise entirely.

Step One: Choose Your Table

Our tables seat from two to sixteen. Shapes are round, square, oval, and rectangular, and styles are fixed, extending, and folding. All our dining tables stand 76cm high and each table lists its seat count. It helps to allow around 90cm of clearance behind each chair so seats can be pushed back.

Browse all our teak garden tables, or start with our folding or extending tables.

Step Two: Choose Your Chairs

Our designs include the Winchester, Kensington, Guildford, Salisbury, Dorchester, Ripon, and Lincoln, each available as a carver with arms or a dining chair without arms. The Winchester is exclusive to Chic Teak and features a distinctive curved crest rail. Other options include the Wells stacking chair and the Lymington reclining chair.

The Ripon and Lincoln fold, and the Wells stacks up to four high. Compare the armless designs in our teak dining chairs, or carvers and folding designs across our teak garden chairs.

A typical approach is to have carvers at the ends and dining chairs along the sides.

Step Three: Add Cushions and Shade

Our chair cushions are made to fit each design and are available in a choice of colours. The standard range includes Ecru, Graphite, Light Grey, and Taupe, with Green on some designs, so check the product page for the cushion you want. Our parasols add shade: some tables have a brass parasol hole that requires a parasol base, and others have a built-in parasol base already.

Cushions and covers carry the manufacturer’s standard one-year guarantee, and parasols are covered by the supplier’s guarantee, depending on the range.

Mixing Different Designs

Designs from different ranges sit together because they share the same material. Chic Teak uses only carefully selected Grade A heartwood from mature trees: close-grained and free from knots, sapwood, and blemishes. We use no stains or colouring treatments to disguise its natural appearance. Our dining chairs and carvers have seat heights between 45.5cm and 46cm, so different designs sit at a similar height around a single table.

Mix and Match Garden Furniture: FAQs

Can I mix different chair designs around one table?

Yes. You can combine carvers from one design with dining chairs from another. Our dining chairs and carvers have seat heights between 45.5cm and 46cm, and every piece is made from the same Grade A heartwood teak, so the mix looks deliberate rather than mismatched.

Do I have to buy a table and chairs together?

No. Tables and chairs are chosen separately, so you can add chairs later or order chairs alone.

How many chairs will fit my table?

Each table lists its seat count. Carvers take more table edge because of their arms, so plan for the lower end of a table’s range if you want carvers all round, and allow around 90cm of clearance behind each chair.

Will the finish match if I order at different times?

A new teak piece will start with a golden hue, compared to furniture that has been outside for a while. It begins weathering to the same silvery grey as soon as it goes outside, so the tones draw closer together over the following seasons.
