Teak Dining Chairs for the Garden

Enjoy the best in outdoor dining with our collection of comfortable, stylish and durable teak dining chairs. Find the options that best suit your teak dining table.

Choosing dining chairs usually comes down to comfort, fit around the table, and how easily they store away when the season turns. Every design in our range is made from Grade A heartwood teak, kiln-dried for the British climate, and delivered fully assembled, available as carvers or dining chairs to suit any table.

Left outdoors, this piece will gradually turn from warm honey to an elegant silver-grey, the patina that makes well-aged teak so sought after. It's a purely cosmetic change, because the Grade A heartwood beneath keeps its natural oils, which protect against water, insects and rot. There's no need to oil, seal or varnish it; let it weather naturally and enjoy it for decades.

Chic Teak uses only carefully selected Grade A heartwood from mature trees: close-grained and free from knots, sapwood and blemishes. We use no stains or colouring treatments to disguise its natural appearance.

Carver or Dining Chair

A carver has arms and a dining chair does not. Traditionally carvers went at the head of the table, but most people now buy a mix, with two carvers at the ends and dining chairs down the sides.

Arms are more comfortable for long meals and easier to get out of, which matters more than people expect. Dining chairs tuck closer to the table and take up less room, so they suit a tighter terrace or a table that sits against a wall.

Most designs in the range come in both, so you can mix them across one table without anything looking mismatched.

The Chairs Worth Sitting In

Two are worth calling out. The Winchester is unique to Chic Teak and exceptionally comfortable, with a distinctive one-piece, thick curved crest rail and back and seat slats that are thinner than normal and expertly shaped, so the chair follows the shape of the person in it.

The Kensington is our highest-backed dining chair, with a gently sculpted crest rail, slim curved slats, and arms shaped for support. It is built on solid, square legs with side rails and an under-seat crossbar, which provides stability.

Folding and Stacking Options

The Ripon and Lincoln designs fold, which suits a smaller terrace or anyone who would rather clear the space over winter. A folded Ripon takes up roughly 117 x 58 x 17cm. Both arrive fully assembled rather than flat-packed, so they are considerably more robust than the folding chairs most people have encountered.

Mix and Match with Any Table

We do not sell fixed sets. Any chair works with any table, so you can put together something that suits your garden rather than a manufacturer's packing list. Start from the teak dining tables or the wider teak garden tables range, then choose chairs for the look and the fit.

If you would like us to put a table and chairs together for you, use our build your own garden dining set option, or browse our teak garden dining sets.

Cushions Made to Fit

Seat cushions are available for every design, made to fit rather than adapted. Covers are a high-specification Olefin fabric that is showerproof but not waterproof, with UV colour fastness and stain resistance.

The standard range covers Ecru, Graphite, Light Grey, Taupe, and Green. The premium Paris range adds Navy, Cornflower, Teal, Sky, Terracotta, and Amber, made to order and available in up to six weeks.

One thing worth knowing: because of teak's natural tannins, you may see some oil residue on the underside of a cushion where it sits against the wood, which is normal and does not affect the cushion or the chair.

Teak Dining Chair: FAQs

What is a carver chair?

A carver is a dining chair with arms, traditionally placed at the head of the table. A dining chair is the same design without arms.

Which teak dining chair is the most comfortable?

The Winchester and the Kensington are the two we would point you to. The Winchester has expertly shaped back and seat slats that follow the shape of the body, and the Kensington is our highest-backed chair with a sculpted crest rail. Comfort is personal, which is why the showroom is worth the trip.

Do your teak garden chairs fold?

The Ripon and Lincoln designs fold, and both are available as carvers or dining chairs. A folded Ripon occupies approximately 117 x 58 x 17cm. Unlike flat-pack folding chairs, ours are delivered fully assembled.

Can teak garden chairs be stacked?

Yes. The Wells carver stacks up to four chairs high, which is the most space-efficient option if you would rather not fold.

Do I need cushions on teak dining chairs?

Not for short-term comfort, as most seats are contoured rather than flat. Most people add them for longer meals and for the look. Cushions carry a one-year supplier guarantee rather than our ten-year teak guarantee.

Can I mix different chair designs around one table?

Yes, and many customers do. All our chairs are built to the same finish, so combining carvers at the ends with dining chairs down the sides works well, as does mixing two designs.
